In " Smoke Signals " in 2013 by Alessandra Potenza is about electronic cigarettes that could be a solution for smoker to quit smoking or a new wave of nicotine addiction for none smoker. Electronic cigarettes was invented by a pharmacist called Hon Lik. They've banned in some countries like Canada, Mexico, and Brazil, but Australia allows the ones that don't contain nicotine. The FDA tried to banned e-cigarettes because it's unapproved drugs delivery gadgets. Then they overruled the the ban and say e-cigarettes can be regulated by them like regular cigarettes. E-cigarettes makers have spent heavily on TV commercials with celebrities, sports sponsorships, and carton characters to appeal whether adults or teenagers. An increasing number of doctors are looking at e-cigarettes as the long sought solution for public health problems. Some critics argue that e-cigarettes could be hard to quit.
Electronic cigarettes must not be allowed to anyone. However, smokers can be allowed to smoke them if they want to quit smoking. E-cigarettes might have good benefits for smoker to quit, but they have lots of problems to the none smoker.
I learned new vocabularies like toxic, giant, and effort. The meaning of toxic is a containing poison. Giant means an usual or larg company. Effort is the meaning of the physical energy that you need to do something.
Good summery and choice of article because such problem is really affecting the youths today. I agree with you that E-cigarettes should be banned. Even though the E-cigarettes might have some benefits to the smokers, it has a bigger negative effect.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that e-cigarettes should be banned as long as regular cigarettes are still legal because they don't smell as bad and have less or no nicotine. But they shouldn't be allowed to market toward young adults or do anything that regular cigarette companies aren't allowed to do. I think it's good that cigarette companies can't advertise on TV anymore, and it should be the same for e-cigarettes.
